THE ALL NEW 2009 BMW X6 Latest of BMW

The X6's styling isn't for everyone, but it manages to set itself apart with the fastback roof line, huge wheels and other sporty styling cues. Inside, the BMW X6 boasts comfortable seats, an excellent driving position and high-quality materials, though the control layout can be befuddling. Rear dimensions are compromised, but two adults will be happy in back -- provided they aren't unusually long of torso. Cargo capacity, while adequate, is considerably below average for the midsize crossover SUV segment.

The X6 certainly impresses in the powertrain department. The xDrive35i's 3.0-liter turbocharged inline-6 pumps out a frisky 300 horsepower and 300 pound-feet of torque, while the xDrive50i's 4.4-liter turbocharged V8 bristles with 400 hp and 450 lb-ft of torque. The sole transmission is a six-speed automatic with manual shift control. All X6 models are equipped with all-wheel drive and a trick torque distribution system called Dynamic Performance Control. This system apportions varying amounts of power to each wheel in order to maintain optimal traction and directional stability.

Kia's Forte LPI HEV World First LPG-fueled Hybrid Electric Car

Kia has introduced Forte LPI hybrid electric vehicle (HEV), Kia’s first mass production hybrid car, to the South Korean consumers yesterday.

The Forte LPI hybrid electric vehicle is powered by an economical mild-hybrid drive system consisting of 1.6L gasoline engine and electric motor. The Liquefied Petroleum Injected (LPI) engine generates 114 horsepower, while electric motor brings additional 20 hp. Equipped with this kind of hybrid system and continuously variable transmission, the Forte achieves a very competitive fuel economy rating of 17.2 kilometers per liter of LPG fuel (41 MPG US), which is equivalent to 21.5 kilometers per liter fuel economy in terms of gasoline, the company said.

Kia’s Forte LPI hybrid will also be the world’s first hybrid vehicle to utilize the highly than nickel-metal hydride batteries. Those will be supplied by Korean battery supplier LG Chem, the world’s fourth largest rechargeable battery producer. The LG Chem will also supply similar battery pack to GM’s Chevy Volt.

In addition, Kia revealed it's plans to bring the first full-hybrid car - probably based on the next generation Optima sedan- to the market in late 2010 and it’s first hydrogen fuel cell powered car in 2012. Expected to hit the global markets in the same year is the plug-in hybrid sedan.

Furthermore, together with it’s parent company Hyundai Motor Co, Kia plans to spend nearly $6 billion on research and development this year, with majority of money pumped into development of new hybrid and fuel cell electric cars such as Kia Forte LPI hybrid and Borrego FCEV.

Honda CR-Z Type R supposed to launch 2010

Honda is planning to follow its new Insight up with a production version of the CRX-like CR-Z two-seat hybrid.

Honda's CR-Z Type R is supposed to launch in 2010.Unfortunately, this source can’t give us any details about just what will transform this standard CR-Z into a Type R. Will it be nothing more than a two-seat version of the Mugen Insight, meaning just a car with a functional aero kit and some wheels.

In February of 2008, Honda’s UK manager for product planning, Mark Turner, said development of the CR-Z was underway at Honda’s R&D facility in Germany and that a strictly gasoline-powered version could make it to market if there was suitable demand. Fast-forward to today, and a new report claims Honda could be developing a CR-Z Type-R.



At this point, Honda refuses to confirm or deny the existence of a Type-R version of the CR-Z,and there’s plenty of speculation about what could power the new hot hatch. Honda could take a play from the Accord Hybrid and boost the stock CR-Z’s gasoline-electric drivetrain, or, if Turner’s mention of a gasoline-only model is to be believed, fit the CR-Z Type-R with a revised version of Honda’s K20 inline-four.

That's being done through plug-in conversions and adding more powerful batteries to currently available gasoline/electric hybrid cars, such as the Toyota Prius.

Honda has upgraded the 2009 Civic Hybrid with enough high-end options to make it a near-luxury car, but maintained its fuel-sipping status as one of the most economical cars on the road.
