2010 Lexus HS 250h Focused on Fuel Economy

The 2010 Lexus HS 250h is focused more on fuel economy than performance, it's not surprising to see that 2010 Lexus HS 250h has the same Atkinson-cycle, 2.4-liter inline four-cylinder engine used by the Toyota Camry Hybrid. Lexus says total horsepower is 187. In the Camry, 147 hp is coming from the 2.4-liter engine, with a nickel-metal hydride battery pack contributing the remaining 40 hp. It's a fair guess that in the 2010 Lexus HS 250h it's the same. To get this power to the front wheels, there's a trans axle with the electric motors and a planetary-type continuously variable transmission built into it.

Like the 2010 Lexus RX 450h, the HS 250h incorporates an exhaust heat recovery system to hasten warm-up time for the gas engine and allow it to shut off sooner. This benefits fuel economy, though Lexus has not made any miles-per-gallon predictions for the 2010 HS 250h.

2010 Jaguar XF-R in Death Valley: Video

After seeing prototypes running around England, it was figured only a matter of time before would catch up with the 2010 Jaguar XF-R in Death Valley. Running solo in a new shade of silver, this high-performance version of the standard XF sedan is designed to give Jaguar a true super sedan to compete with the likes of the BMW M5 and the Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG.

This latest XF-R prototype wears many of the same upgrades as the earlier test mules. The deeper airdam up front is the most obvious upgrade, as the air intakes appear slightly larger than those on the standard model. It also looks like a pair of hood intakes have been added as well.

There are new, more aggressive rocker-sill extensions as well, although the wheels appear to be the same set of optional 20-inch items available for the standard XF. In back, a set of quad tailpipes is another obvious tip-off to this XF's high-performance engine hardware.

Expect to see the official debut of the 2010 Jaguar XF-R early next year, with sales beginning by the spring of 2009.
